Presentation

Gladys was born in Punta Arenas. She obtained biology degree from the Universidad Catolica in Santiago. Gladys returned to Southern Chile in 1981, to complete her thesis on the guanaco. After finishing her degree, Gladys remained in southerns chile. She has take part in or directed studies of many birds and animals native to the region.

Together, Oscar and Gladys have published several books and maps on the flora and fauna of Torres del Paine and the Chilean Patagonia. In recent years, they have been involved with various wildlife studies. Presently, they are heading a study of the endangered huemul, an Andean deer. Gladys and Oscar have been married since 1982. They have a son, Ricky, who is currently studying veterinarian medicine.
